Education in Lockdown: Gains and Pitfalls of Remote Learning

The Philippine Social Science Council’s Social Science Information, Vol. 49 (2021) with the theme “Education in Lockdown: Gains and Pitfalls of Remote Learning” is now available for viewing.

This issue features four articles on different perspectives on the issues and experiences during remote learning. Also included is an interview with the former chancellor for the UP Open University and advocate for distance education, Dr. Grace Javier Alfonso.

The COVID-19 pandemic has left no sector of society unchanged, but arguably one of the most affected is the education sector—with safety requirements forcing teachers and students alike to embrace remote learning. This issue of the SSI sheds light on the rich experiences of teachers and students as they continue to navigate the new terrain of  our new normal.
