Latin American Forum on Scientific Evaluation (FOLEC)

Our Latin American equivalent has a new space for exchanging ideas – and they’d like your input.

One of AASSRECs objectives is to work with other regional and international organisations. Now, there’s a new opportunity to do this via the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).

CLACSO’s Latin American Forum on Scientific Evaluation (FOLEC) is a new space for debate and exchange on scientific evaluation processes.

A significant antecedent was the holding, in November 2019 in Mexico City, of the first Seminar of the Latin American Forum on Scientific Evaluation (FOLEC), between CLACSO and the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). The event brought together experts from the region, representatives of Science and Technology Organizations (OCyT), and member centers of CLACSO to analyze different dimensions around the evaluation of science and generate proposals from Latin America and the Caribbean, in dialogue with international trends and good practices.

Currently, FOLEC’s agenda seeks to consolidate a dialogical work space (in the form of forums or seminars), where CLACSO assumes the responsibility of articulating and promoting reflection and work together with international associations and National Science and Technology Organizations, specialists and researchers in the field, and other partner institutions, in order to reach a common proposal on science evaluation to be presented at the next CLACSO conference, to be held in November 2021.
