The Association of Asian Social Science Research Councils (AASSREC) is excited to announce the opening of applications for its International Social Science Collaboration and Development Grant Program. This initiative supports collaborative research among early- to mid-career researchers and underrepresented scholars in the Asia-Pacific region.

Key objectives

The program aims to foster international partnerships and develop new research projects, particularly in low and middle-income countries. It emphasises capacity building and cross-disciplinary work in social sciences.

Focus areas

Applications can include research across all social science research disciplines and cross-disciplinary research. We encourage applications that address:

  • Climate change, sustainability, and human mobility
  • Public health and disaster response
  • Technology and digital transformations
  • Equity, gender and indigeneity

These themes are part of the Boosting Social Sciences and their Contribution to Better Lives across the Indo-Pacific initiative, a partnership between AASSREC and the Global Development Network, managed by the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and supported by the Canadian International Development Research Centre.

Funding details

Up to 11 grants of $5,750 AUD each are available for projects between 1 August 2024 and 31 July 2025. A second funding round will follow in early 2025.
