AASSREC Celebrates 50th Anniversary

25th AASSREC Biennial General Conference,  14-15 June 2023, Seoul

More than 150 delegates from across the Asia Pacific social science community met in Seoul on 14 and 15 June for the 25th AASSREC Biennial Conference. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of AASSREC, the theme of the conference was The Past, Present and Future of Social Sciences in Asia.

Hosted by the Korean Social Science Research Council (KOSSREC) and The National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (NRC), the conference provided an opportunity to look back on Asian social sciences so far, discuss what role social sciences are currently playing in policy making in each country, and what direction Asian social sciences should take in the future.

Other key projects are the AASSREC Mentoring Initiative, the development of the Asia Pacific Social Science Journal Directory  and planning a program for the next general conference to be held in India in 2025.
