Life in Lockdown: Learnings from Social Scientists

The Philippine Social Science Council invites you to a three-part webinar series entitled “Life in Lockdown: Perspectives of the Social Scientists”. With more than a year since the lockdown, look back into how it has affected the lives of Filipinos as they adjust to the new normal. This series seeks to recognize the works or contribution of social scientists during the pandemic and explore their role in solving the country’s most complex issues brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On June 15, 2021,  PSSC held the first part of the series in partnership with the UP Population Institute focused on the rollout of vaccines. It also looked into the general measures being taken by the government to vaccinate the Filipino population and how social scientists perceive such measures. Speakers included Dr. Grace T. Cruz, Director of the UP Population Institute (UPPI) and Dr. Gideon Lasco from Ugnayang Agham-Tao (UGAT). The session was moderated by Asst. Prof. Michael Dominic del Mundo of UPPI.

On July 29, 2021, PSSC held the second part of the series in partnership with the Women and Gender Studies Association of the Philippines. This second webinar had a talk show format, and sought to explore the experiences of women and LGBTQIA+ groups during the pandemic.
