UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development

Nominations open for UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development

UNESCO is seeking nominations for the UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development.

Funded by the Government of Japan, the Prize was established by the UNESCO Executive Board in 2014 to reward exceptional projects and programmes undertaken by institutions, organizations or other entities in the field of education for sustainable development (ESD).

The Prize aims to generate and scale up action at all levels of education and learning, and contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The three laureates of the 2023 Prize will receive an award of USD 50,000 each. In addition, winners will be invited to join the ESD for 2030 Global Network (ESD-Net 2030), in order to establish long-term collaboration with UNESCO beyond the award ceremony.

As an NGO in official partnership with UNESCO, AASSREC is eligible to submit nominations for this prestigious award. If you would like AASSREC to nominate an institution or organisation for this award please contact the AASSREC Secretary-General, Ms Michelle Bruce, michelle.bruce@socialsciences.org.au to request the nomination form. Completed nomination documentation will need to be sent to the AASSREC Secretariat no later than Friday 31 March so that we have sufficient time to submit the nomination to UNESCO by their 21 April deadline.

Further information on the award is available on the UNESCO website here.
